We are very pleased that Tuuli from our team was able to support the 1851 Trust Maritime Roadshow for girls. The event took place in January 2020 in Rosyth, Scotland.

The event was designed to raise awareness of maritime careers in schools, and to encourage girls to confidently participate in STEM subjects at school, by introducing girls to female role models in the maritime industry who could tell them about the opportunities available and their career paths.

The event was organised by the 1851 Trust, which is a dynamic and innovative education charity committed to inspiring greater participation in STEM subjects and encouraging young people to embrace future opportunities in science and technology.  The Trust’s programmes help to challenge perceptions of careers in STEM and maritime.

Tuuli was involved with the speed networking and was able to educate the participating girls about how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects have helped her in her professional development and current responsibilities. She also introduced the girls to the exciting and varied tasks of a naval architect.

MDI is very pleased to have the opportunity to get involved in local community work and to support young people in their development.
